Stratus reluctant to clear from central England

Figure 1 – Courtesy of the Met Office

The low stratus across central England has been very reluctant to clear today, and I notice this afternoon that it’s now spilling down the north coast of Devon in the easterly flow (fig 1). I also notice that there’s still some sea ice visible in the northern Baltic (fig 2).

  1. I think I read that the graphics would be also Meteogroup, and not the Metra/NZ group ones used presently, so I expect change.

  2. Yes, Spring 2017 is what I heard so its imminent!
I just wonder if things will be that different though same presenters, they could even use the same graphics engine!

  3. Sorry to post off topic, but I wondered if you or anyone knew when Meteogroup take over BBC weather “Spring 2017” is the most official time I can find, with a mention perhaps of April, and if that’s the start of the new financial year… very soon potentially. Hope the Beeb are not setting themselves up for another angry viewer backlash like when they last changed graphics.
